Lifting Supervisor

The duties of this appointment include (but are not limited to) the following specific instructions / actions that must be carried out by you:

• Compile and discuss with each Tower crane team the pre-lift plan indicating the crane position and picking and dropping points.
• Ensure that only registered crane operators, appointed riggers and appointed signalmen participate in any lifting operation involving the use of mobile and tower cranes.
• Compile lifting operation schedules where cranes are overlapping and need to move materials in a common area.
• Be present for all lifting operations under your supervision.
• Conduct Daily Safety Task Instruction (DSTI) with all lifting team members in your area of responsibility, i.e. riggers, crane operators, helpers, etc. in accordance with the project-specific tower crane communication procedure and approved Method Statement for lifting operations.
• Ensure that the entire zone of operation i.e. area from lifting and placing of loads, is demarcated and sign-posted.
• Ensure that Riggers use the whistles provided to them to alert personnel when a lift is about to commence or when the load is descending to be placed.
• As far as possible alert people and ensure the slew path of the crane is free of personnel passing or working beneath suspended loads.
• Ensure that Riggers and helpers are using the designated PPE during all loading operations.
• Ensure that all lifting equipment required is tagged, inspected, and fit for use before commencing with any lifting operation.
• Coordinate between Tower Cranes and Mobile cranes in your area of responsibility whenever the situation requires it in order to ensure the safe execution of multiple or tandem lifting operations.
• Ensure that the ground conditions are safe for any lifting operation to be performed by mobile cranes.
• Ensure that all Subcontractors engaged to carry out lifting operations on behalf of the Company only use equipment, materials and tools that meet legislative and standard requirements.
• If unsafe conditions are observed, take suitable measures to rectify the conditions so that the lifting operation can be conducted safely

• Have a minimum of eight (8) years of rigging experience in lifting activities, with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
• At least 30 years of age and physically fit
• Educated to a minimum secondary level
• Capable of reading, speaking, writing and understanding the English language
• Have strong administrative and supervisory skills to schedule, monitor and control the LE personnel and lifting operations
Certified physically and medically fit, including eyesight, Colour blindness test, hearing and reflexes, by a Qatar registered medical practitioner and/or QE-owned medical centres.
