Lifting Supervisor

Job Summary:

Responsible for the safe planning, coordination, and execution of all tower crane and associated lifting operations on high-rise building projects. The role involves full technical oversight of tower crane erection, climbing, dismantling, and daily lifting activities, ensuring compliance with approved lifting plans, international standards, and local authority regulations. The Lifting Supervisor acts as the single point of control for all crane-related works, coordinating with construction, engineering, logistics, and HSE teams to ensure safe and uninterrupted vertical construction progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all tower crane lifting operations on high-rise building projects
  • Prepare, review, and implement approved lifting plans, climbing procedures, and method statements
  • Verify tower crane capacities, load charts, radius limits, tie-in levels, climbing sequences, and slab capacities
  • Coordinate tower crane erection, internal/external climbing, and dismantling in accordance with manufacturer manuals
  • Assess and control lifting risks including wind effects at height, blind lifts, load swing, overlapping cranes, and adjacent structures
  • Monitor wind speed at jib height and suspend lifting operations when limits are exceeded
  • Supervise critical and complex lifts such as façade units, heavy MEP plant, steel assemblies, and formwork systems
  • Ensure all lifting accessories are certified, inspected, and suitable for tower crane operations
  • Confirm competency and certification of crane operators, riggers, and signalmen before lifting activities
  • Conduct pre-lift briefings and toolbox talks to communicate lift sequences, hazards, and emergency procedures
  • Enforce exclusion zones, drop zones, and safe material landing areas at all levels
  • Stop lifting operations immediately in case of unsafe conditions or deviation from approved plans
  • Coordinate crane usage schedules with construction and logistics teams to support the project program
  • Maintain lifting permits, crane logs, wind records, inspection certificates, and incident reports
  • Liaise with crane suppliers, engineers, third-party inspectors, and authorities for inspections and approvals

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related construction discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction lifting operations, with at least 6 years dedicated to high-rise tower crane projects
