Lighting Designer

Job Summary:

The Lighting Designer is responsible for contributing to project design and documentation while developing technical and creative expertise. This role requires collaboration with project managers and senior designers to deliver high-quality lighting solutions across diverse project types.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop lighting concepts along with Senior staff
  • Prepare lighting design documentation, drawings, cut sheets, and specifications.
  • Perform lighting calculations and control intent documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and client presentations.
  • Review and implement lighting codes and standards (e.g., Title 24, ASHRAE, LEED, Well Building).
  • Assist in reviewing submittals and coordinating project budgets.
  • Contribute to project management on small projects or defined tasks within larger projects.
  • Provide guidance to interns or junior team members as assigned.
  • Engage in continuing education and attend industry events.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 1–5 years of lighting design experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, AGI, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel.
  • Knowledge of lighting design principles, products, and control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, lighting design, or related field preferred.
  • Pursuit of LEED AP, WELL AP, or LC certification is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base salary range for this role is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
