Westview International Language School is seeking an experienced and outstanding Literacy and Reading Coach (Upper Primary) to join our educational team. This position is essential for fostering a strong reading culture among upper primary students and will involve collaborating with teachers to enhance literacy instruction across the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with upper primary teachers to assess the literacy needs of students and develop effective strategies to improve reading skills and comprehension.
- Design and deliver professional development workshops focused on best practices in literacy instruction and resources to support teachers in their classrooms.
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and provide tailored support and intervention plans for struggling readers.
- Develop engaging literacy programs and resources that encourage a love for reading and support diverse learners.
- Monitor and support the implementation of literacy initiatives and curricula across grade levels.
- Collaborate with families to promote literacy at home and connect them with community resources.
- Stay current with research and educational trends related to literacy and share insights with the educational community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably with a focus on literacy instruction in an upper primary setting.
- Experience as a literacy coach or in a similar role is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of literacy development and effective teaching methodologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and families.
- Ability to analyze data and develop targeted improvement strategies.
- Commitment to fostering a passion for reading and supporting student achievement in literacy.
