Litigation Assistant/Filing Clerk

PLAINTIFF’S PERSONAL INJURY law firm is looking for a full-time Complex Litigation Assistant/Filing Clerk who can assist the paralegals and attorneys in managing case files in the litigation phase.

Previous filing experience is preferred for this role but not required**

Compensation is based on experience.

Although previous litigation support experience is preferred, do not hesitate to apply if legal support tasks are of your interest and you are serious about your career in the legal field.

Our firm has an opportunity for candidates who are eager to contribute to high-stakes litigation, specifically assisting the victims of the Los Angeles Eaton Fire that has displaced over 10,000 people.

This high-profile, billion dollar litigation involves over 20,000 plaintiffs and presents a unique opportunity for recent graduates or law students to work on substantive legal issues, develop litigation skills, and gain insight into complex, large-scale, mass tort litigation.

Responsibilities:

• Help the litigation team in everyday tasks related to case files.
• Assist with pleadings, discovery and petitions.
• Manage and maintain case calendars and deadlines.
• E-filing in state and federal court
• Collect, organize, and maintain files.
• Help with legal research and preparing and drafting legal documents.
• Maintain client communication (email and phone).
• Data entry and scanning and saving information in the firm’s case management system.
• Perform other administrative tasks, as requested.

Qualifications and Skills:

• BA/BS degree in a related field
• Paralegal certificate is a plus
• Familiar with CA court rules and civil procedures for state and federal court is preferred.
• Strong vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computers, and technology
• Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback
• Willingness to learn and adapt, and motivation to succeed

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
