Litigation Associate - Insurance Defense - Work From Home

Established law firm with nationwide footprint and work-from-home model is seeking to hire a litigation associate with at least five years of experience. Must reside in the New York City area (preferably New York, Queens or Nassau County) and must be willing to apply for admission in New Jersey.

Our insurance defense practice is active. To address our needs, we are seeking an attorney with a minimum of five years of litigation experience, with significant experience defending general liability, premises liability, and commercial automobile claims . Previous experience with products liability and/or construction site accidents or construction defects is a plus, but not required. Candidates should be comfortable handling all aspects of a case from inception to trial and be committed to proactive case handling toward resolution. We do not believe that litigation consists of simply going through the same motions repeatedly; we seek attorneys who look for creative and proactive solutions to resolving cases.

Our firm has employed a remote (work-from-home) model for over a decade. Our software applications (matter management system, document management system, etc.) are maintained in a cloud-based environment which firm personnel can access from virtually anywhere an internet connection is available. Candidates should be comfortable using technology in the practice of law and have a willingness to learn new technologies.

Dodd DelCollo attorneys are supported by a full staff of experienced paralegals, legal case assistants and calendar/docket clerks. Case teams consisting of a lead attorney, paralegal and legal case assistant hold weekly virtual meetings to review cases and the calendar. Also, there is constant collaboration among the New York insurance defense team on case issues and proactive case management.

This is a remote, work from home position; however, the candidate must be available to appear in person at court hearings, depositions, site inspections, etc., when an in-person appearance is necessary.

Salary is based on experience.

Requirements:

· JD degree from an ABA accredited law school

· License to practice law in New York and willingness to seek admission in New Jersey

· Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience with a heavy emphasis on third-party insurance defense claims involving personal injury, including general liability, premises liability and commercial automobile claims

· Willing to travel as necessary for court appearances, depositions, site inspections, etc.

· Ability to manage cases as the lead/handling attorney through all stages of litigation, including case and risk assessment, pleadings, discovery, taking and defending depositions, retaining and working with expert witnesses, trial preparation, and attendance at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and pre-trial conferences

· Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with clients, claims professionals, and counsel for other parties

· Excellent writing skills and commitment to timely reporting to clients and carriers

· Ability to work and think independently with minimal supervision and ability to function as part of a team

· Consistent entry of billable time entries on a daily basis

· Professional appearance and demeanor
