Ford Motor Company’s Office of the General Counsel is seeking a highly skilled, exceptionally detail-oriented, and proactive attorney to work on litigation matters for our team with a focus on discovery and government investigations. In this role, the attorney will oversee discovery in a broad range of litigation matters, interact with clients in factual development and manage external counsel. The attorney will play a critical part in communicating working collaboratively with the internal Office of General Counsel team. Required Skills and Abilities

  • Background working on litigation issues in a variety of state and federal court settings.
  • Strong understanding of discovery, including e-discovery, in both state and federal court..
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all work product.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex discovery issues in litigation.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with attorneys and internal business partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Word, for advanced document creation and editing.
Experience:
  • 8+ years of dedicated experience working on litigation matters
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on significant projects with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing, or consumer products industries.
Education and Licensing:
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required.
  • Must be a licensed attorney in a U.S. state.

  • Manage discovery across a diverse portfolio of complex litigation matters, including class action and product liability.
  • Conduct factual investigations relating to pending litigation, including interviewing key employees within the company.
  • Manage and collaborate closely with and external counsel on the handling of discovery in litigation, including budgeting, strategy development, and performance oversight.
  • Review discovery responses and briefing relating to discovery issues such as motions to compel and motions to seal.
  • Coordinate responses to government investigations, regulatory inquiries, subpoenas, and enforcement actions from federal, state, and international agencies.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the company's e-discovery strategy and protocols, ensuring efficient, defensible, and cost-effective identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI).
  • Evaluate and implement e-discovery technologies and tools (e.g., RelOne) to optimize workflows and enhance efficiency.
  • Advise internal stakeholders and business units on litigation risks and discovery obligations, and provide guidance on best practices for data preservation, e-discovery, and litigation readiness.
