Our firm is growing and looking for someone with law firm experience and open to growing with our firm. We are looking for an organized individual who is good at developing systems to maximize efficiency. As we are a small firm, the right candidate should be ok with wearing multiple hats in the beginning with the role becoming more focused as time goes on.

Legal Assistant/Paralegal Job Duties:

  • Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting drafting; inputting information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney.
  • Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress.
  • Schedules hearings and manages attorney's calendar.
  • Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; drafting complaints; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel; generating status reports.
  • Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress.
  • Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney, clients, and providers.
  • Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses from clients; organizing materials for team case review.
  • Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; taking courtroom notes.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Create, revise and format legal documents, spreadsheets and presentations, adhering to Firm policy and guidelines.

Legal Assistant Skills and Qualifications:

Special Skills Wanted: *Prior Personal Injury experience is a plus* *Familiarity with CLIO case management software is a plus* Fluent in Spanish and English (not required), Research Skills, Legal Administration Skills, Client Relationships, Organization, Planning, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, Dependability, Client Confidentiality. Must have an impeccable work ethic, excellent prioritization, grammar/proofreading skills, written & verbal communication skills. Knowledge/prior experience with Bankruptcy proceedings preferable

Required Technical Skills: MUST be efficient in Microsoft Outlook & Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Experience with internet research, Must be comfortable using cloud based software. Able to independently troubleshoot minimal and basic IT problems (computer savvy).

Job Benefits: Work performance bonuses available, possible pay increase after the first 90 days.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
