Live-In Newborn Care Specialist / Night Nurse Needed San Francisco, CA
A warm, professional family in Noe Valley is seeking an experienced Live-In Newborn Care Specialist / Night Nurse to provide attentive, high-quality care for their newborn. The family also has a toddler who is supported by a daytime nanny; this role is focused exclusively on the newborn.
The ideal candidate is calm, confident, and experienced in providing around-the-clock newborn care while working collaboratively with parents in a respectful household environment.
Duration & Schedule
- 3-month minimum
- 24/7 live-in coverage
- Built-in daily downtime (approximately 4–6 hours) with one half day on the weekend Possibility of extension beyond the initial term, depending on fit and family needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert newborn care (feeding support, soothing, sleep shaping, diapering, hygiene)
- Support parents during the postpartum period, including overnight care
- Establish age-appropriate routines and observe newborn development
- Maintain a clean, organized newborn care environment
- Communicate clearly and professionally with parents Follow safe sleep and evidence-based newborn care practices
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional newborn care experience
- Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) certification preferred
- Up-to-date on all relevant immunizations: COVID + boosters, Tdap, MMR, Flu, Negative TB test
- Infant CPR/First Aid certification required
- Clean background check and driving record
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Calm, nurturing, and professional demeanor Comfortable in a live-in, 24/7 care role
