About the Role
We are looking for an experienced LiveKit Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable real-time audio, video, and data communication applications using the LiveKit platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in WebRTC technologies, backend development, cloud infrastructure, and real-time media streaming to build secure, high-performance communication solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy real-time communication applications using LiveKit.
- Build and maintain scalable audio, video, screen-sharing, and data communication solutions.
- Integrate LiveKit SDKs with web and mobile applications.
- Develop backend services for authentication, room management, participant management, and media workflows.
- Optimize application performance, latency, bandwidth utilization, and media quality.
- Troubleshoot WebRTC connectivity issues, including ICE, STUN, TURN, and NAT traversal.
- Implement recording, streaming, and media processing capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, Backend, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable communication features.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure high platform availability.
- Follow secure coding practices and implement authentication, authorization, and encrypted communication.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, deployment guides, and API documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–6 years of software development experience with strong backend expertise.
- Hands-on experience with LiveKit Server and LiveKit SDKs.
- Strong understanding of WebRTC architecture and real-time communication protocols.
- Experience with STUN, TURN, ICE, RTP, SRTP, and WebSockets.
- Proficiency in Go, Node.js, Python, or Java.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, or similar databases.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience building enterprise-scale real-time communication platforms.
- Knowledge of SIP, VoIP, telephony integrations, or media servers.
- Experience with recording, transcription, live streaming, and media processing pipelines.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
Preferred Skills (Good to Have)
- Experience with AI Voice Agents and conversational AI applications.
- Integration experience with Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Knowledge of LiveKit Agents framework.
- Experience with FFmpeg, GStreamer, or media processing pipelines.
- Exposure to distributed systems and scalable cloud architectures.
