Load Planner / Fleet Manager

Venture Express, Inc., an established transportation company, is in immediate need of a Load Planner / Fleet Manager in the Smyrna, TN area. Venture Express is excited to be advancing in the area and looking for great talent to come join our team. This position will be part of our growing business and dedicated to a local OEM.

Overview
The Load Planner / Fleet Manager plays a crucial role in the logistics and transportation sector, ensuring that freight is efficiently organized and dispatched. This position involves analyzing shipping requirements, coordinating with various teams, and utilizing transportation management systems (TMW) to optimize load planning. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a keen understanding of transportation planning processes.

Schedule

6am – 3pm

Duties

• Analyze shipping and receiving needs to determine optimal load configurations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate freight movement.
• Utilize phone systems for effective communication with drivers and other stakeholders.
• Manage transportation planning activities to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Type and maintain accurate records of shipments, loads, and schedules.
• Monitor freight status and adjust as necessary to meet delivery timelines.
• Apply best practices in dispatching to enhance operational efficiency.
• Auditing yard reports
• Conduct performance discussions and training
• Assist Drivers in troubleshooting when necessary
• Communicate with customers to assist in scheduling

Skills

• Proficient in using phone systems with excellent phone etiquette.
• Strong analytical skills for assessing shipping requirements and load configurations.
• Experience in shipping receiving processes and freight management.
• Knowledge of transportation management systems and transportation planning principles. TMW preferred.
• Effective communication skills to interact with team members, drivers, and clients.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in the transportation field
• Familiar with standard concepts of scheduling and dispatching
• Ability to multi-task effectively
• Knowledge of DOT and state specific safety regulations
• Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve
• Communicate clearly: verbal and written
• Valid Driver's License
• TMW Suite experience preferred but not required
• College preferred

Salary

• Negotiable based upon experience.
