Key Responsibilities
Loading, Unloading, & Transportation
- Handling & Movement: Safely load, unload, and move heavy or delicate cafe items, including espresso machines, refrigeration units, display cases, catering chafing dishes, tables, chairs, and other event inventory.
- Packing & Securing: Expertly pack and secure equipment and supplies in company vehicles (vans or trucks) using appropriate materials (blankets, tie-downs, bubble wrap) to prevent damage during transit.
- Logistics Coordination: Follow detailed loading/unloading plans and event schedules, ensuring all necessary items are present and transported according to the required timeline.
Event Setup & Breakdown Support
- On-Site Logistics: Assist the Event/Catering Manager with the physical setup and breakdown of the event space, including placing furniture, arranging serving stations, and setting up temporary kitchen equipment.
- Inventory Reconciliation: Assist in checking all equipment off a manifest upon loading and unloading to ensure no items are lost or left behind at the event venue.
- Waste Management: Efficiently break down event trash and waste, and load refuse onto transport vehicles for appropriate disposal back at the main facility.
Warehouse & Equipment Maintenance
- Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized storage area (warehouse, dry storage, or dedicated space) for all event equipment, ensuring items are readily accessible.
- Cleaning: Clean and sanitize returned equipment (e.g., serving platters, beverage dispensers, non-food-contact equipment) after events to ensure they are ready for the next use.
- Reporting: Promptly report any damaged, malfunctioning, or missing equipment to the management team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Physical Stamina: Proven ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) repeatedly and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to packing and securing fragile, valuable cafe and catering equipment.
- Safety Focus: Strict adherence to all lifting and moving safety protocols, including proper use of hand trucks, dollies, and vehicle lifts.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and flexible schedule availability, as events often occur on evenings and weekends.
- Teamwork: Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively as part of a small, fast-paced team.
- Driver's License: A valid, clean [State/Province] Driver's License is often Required.
