About Us:
We're looking for a motivated recent graduate to join our Data Science team through our 6-month Academy Internship program. This structured program bridges the gap between academic learning and industry practice, giving you hands-on experience with real production systems while building the skills needed to thrive in a fast-paced, technically complex data environment. This structured program teaches strong foundations in modern data practices, and successful interns may be offered a full-time Junior Data Professional role upon completion.

What You'll Work On
You'll gain hands-on experience across the data lifecycle:
- Building & Modernizing Data Pipelines: Design, build, and optimize production data pipelines in Python/SQL, learning industry best practices for scalability, error handling, and documentation
- Data Platform Development: Build features and views in our Flask-based data platform, extracting insights from BigQuery and creating reports that drive business decisions
- System Migration & Optimization: Contribute to migrating reporting systems and identifying opportunities to improve existing pipelines and workflows
- Critical Analysis: Learn to navigate complex data systems, question assumptions, validate data quality, and ensure solutions meet real business needs
Throughout, you'll work alongside experienced data scientists and engineers, learning through mentorship, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.

What We're Looking For

Critical Thinking & Independent Analysis:
You need to be able to use what you learned to solve actual problems. That means looking at data and methods critically, questioning how things work, and speaking up when something doesn't make sense, even if it's been done that way for years. We want someone who thinks for themselves, makes good decisions about data, and actually wants to understand how and why systems are built the way they are. -
Attention to Detail:
You need to notice when things don't look right, whether it's weird numbers in the data, bugs in code, or processes that aren't working. Catch mistakes early before they cause bigger problems, and make sure your work is actually correct.
Essential Requirements
- This role is based in Cairo, with an expectation to work from the office two days per week.
- Recent university graduate (or graduating soon) with a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
- Previous internship or technical project experience outside university and be able to present it in an interview
- Strong foundation in Python programming
- Basic understanding of SQL and databases
- Fluent English language skills (both written and verbal)
- Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach challenges analytically and independently.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Functions)
- Familiarity with Flask or other web frameworks
- Understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Plotly, Tableau)
- Basic knowledge of version control (Git)

- Stage one: A video call with our recruitment team to assess your skills and english level.
- Stage two: If successful, a homework task to evaluate your skills and fit for the programme.
- Stage three: If successful, you'll proceed to a virtual interview with the Data team managers for a technical interview.
- Stage four: If successful, you'll proceed to the final virtual interview with the data team
