Roles & Responsibilities of Logistics HeadStrategic Planning & Management
- Develop and implement the overall logistics strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Plan, manage, and coordinate logistics operations (inbound, outbound, domestic, and international).
- Optimize supply chain processes to ensure cost efficiency and timely deliveries.
Operations Management
- Oversee warehousing, transportation, distribution, and inventory management functions.
- Ensure smooth flow of goods from suppliers to customers with minimal disruption.
- Manage import/export operations, compliance, and documentation.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with logistics service providers (transporters, freight forwarders, shipping lines, warehouse operators, etc.).
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, transporters, and other partners.
Cost Control & Optimization
- Monitor logistics costs, budget, and KPIs.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining service quality.
- Optimize routes, load utilization, and warehouse efficiency.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to all legal, statutory, and safety requirements related to logistics and transportation.
- Mitigate risks related to delays, damages, theft, or customs compliance issues.
- Maintain updated knowledge of international trade regulations and policies.
Technology & Process Improvement
- Implement logistics software, ERP systems, and tracking tools for operational efficiency.
- Leverage data analytics for demand forecasting, inventory planning, and performance monitoring.
- Continuously improve processes for better speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the logistics and supply chain team.
- Allocate resources, set goals, and monitor team performance.
- Provide training and skill development to enhance team efficiency.
Customer Service & Communication
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
- Handle escalations and resolve logistics-related customer issues.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments (sales, production, finance, etc.) to ensure alignment.
