Logistics Assistant

Role Overview


We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Logistics Assistant , working to support the coordination of international shipments and documentation. The role is responsible for ensuring export documents, regulatory requirements and shipment processes are managed accurately to enable smooth delivery of goods worldwide. The position will work closely with brokers, buyers, shipping lines and internal teams, to help maintain compliance and monitor cargo through to destination. This role offers a potential for someone looking to develop their organisational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced trading environment.


Business Overview


Maviga is a leading international company specializing in the origination, processing and trading of dry edible pulses and specialty crops. We are part of ED&F Man Commodities, a world leading trader of agricultural products including coffee, sugar, molasses and animal feed.


ED&F Man Liquid Products Division is the leading global supplier in molasses, molasses blends and related liquid products as well as dry products for primarily the animal feed and fermentation industries. We are a pioneer as well as a trader in liquid agricultural by- and co-products. We offer expertise in animal nutrition and feed dispense technology to farmers. We work closely with manufacturers, such as rum and yeast producers, to provide quality products from sustainable sources. Our capability includes sourcing, shipping, storage and distribution of molasses, molasses blends and other sugar co-products, as well as vegetable and fish oils.

The position will be based from Maviga’s office located in Spokane, Washington.


Key Accountabilities


  • Supporting the coordination of communication with brokers, buyers, shipping lines, service providers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of export activities.
  • Preparation of export documentation including shipping instructions, bills of lading, certificates of origin, weight certificates and packing lists in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaising with governmental agencies to complete required documentation and obtain necessary certifications such as phytosanitary documents to ensure compliance with export and import regulations.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of documentation through thorough review and proof-reading to support successful shipment execution.
  • Monitoring cargo from point of sale through to final destination to ensure adherence to contract terms and delivery schedules.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of export administration regulations and ensuring compliance with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a results-driven approach.
  • Applying strong planning, geographical awareness and attention to detail to support efficient logistics and export operations.


Skills and Experience


  • Bachelors Degree educated ideally in supply chain, logistics management or business administration.
  • Strong understanding of export processes and documentation, including shipping instructions and bills of lading.
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office, with the ability to manage documentation efficiently.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and time zones.
  • Good organizational skills, geographical awareness, and attention to detail.
