SCHEDULE: 8am-4:30pm M-F; OT as needed
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Logistics Coordinator reports directly to the General Manager. This person manages shipment of all product both to and from the facility. Primary responsibilities include leadership of a small team to accomplish all Shipping, Receiving and Warehousing functions; additionally, they will work closely in a team of three supervisors to monitor and manage all facility day-to-day operations. Areas of focus include but are not limited to employee supervision, generating all shipping/receiving documentation, data entry, loading/unloading freight, part inspection, regulatory compliance, fork-truck operation, etc. This position will make critical decisions, resolve issues and have an active leadership role in the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:
- Execute all tasks prioritizing maximum 1.Safety, 2.Quality and 3.On-Time Delivery.
- Coordinate with plant personnel to ensure maximum potential for on-time delivery.
- Provide highest level of customer service.
- Supervise, train and develop shipping/receiving personnel.
- Build, schedule and manage all inbound/outbound shipments for facility.
- Generate required shipment information via ERP System and develop shipment schedule.
- Forecast and manage shipment schedule for up to 5+ days in advance.
- Acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge of export regulations as applicable.
- Dispatch all ALPCO Trucks.
- Enter all facility receipts into ERP System including those from both on and offsite locations (warehouses, vendors, outside processing units, etc.).
- Enter material certifications into ERP System and document as required.
- Incoming inspection of received product as required.
- Set positive tone and aggressive pace for department.
- Ensure full compliance with ALPCO quality/safety standards, including good housekeeping and overall cleanliness of products and work area.
- Coordinate with corporate personnel ensuring accurate, timely and complete documentation for all shipments and receipts.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with all DOT/OSHA/ISO/ALPCO standards as applicable.
- Manage shipping/receiving and related issues including but not limited to: billing/invoicing, shipment terms, inter-facility trucking, contracted trucking, contract warehouses, loading/unloading trucks, inbound/outbound appointments, detention time, etc.
- Monitor traffic related phone calls, voicemail, e-mail and other communication and address as necessary.
- Maintain legacy shipping/receiving/export tractability via paper and electronic documents.
- Operate various material handling equipment (fork-truck, pallet-jack, etc.) with capacities up to 15,000 lbs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Experience, Certification, Licenses, Registration:
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing setting
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in logistics and transportation
- Fork-Truck experience required, especially loading/unloading of flatbed and box/van type trucks and trailers; Trailer strapping and tarping experience preferred
- Acquire and maintain ALPCO Fork Truck Operator’s License
- Shipping/Receiving management utilizing ERP Systems required
- Working knowledge of DOT Regulations as applicable to ALPCO freight
- Experience managing and developing personnel
- Dispatching experience
- Familiar with modern shipping methods and procedures
- Exposure to metals industry preferred
- Knowledge of customs documentation preferred
- Experience with ISO preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Able to multitask and react quickly in fast-paced work environment
- Must be organized and detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
- Computer skills as applicable to ERP Systems, MS Office Applications and general data entry
- Ability and willingness to meet high-pressure deadlines
- Ability to utilize inspection instruments (i.e. tape measure, caliper, micrometer, etc.)
- Ability to communicate (written and verbal) with a diverse group of people
- High level of personal initiative with the ability to work independently or in a team setting
- Highest standard of confidentiality
- Availability to work overtime as required; sometimes after hours, on weekends and without notice
- Able to utilize small hand and power tools to complete miscellaneous tasks as required (Hammer, pry-bar, snips, pliers, hand shears, heat gun, nail gun, circular saw, utility knife, etc.)
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Physical Demands:
- Work in standing/walking/sitting position in excess of eight hours per day
- Lift and move up to 75 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Demonstrate good eye/hand coordination
- Perform repetitive motions in excess of eight hours per day
Work Environment:
- Tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, noise, temperature, sun and other elements present both in and outside the facility
