Position: Dispatcher

Job Description:

The Dispatcher is responsible for the planning, scheduling and dispatching of our freight. The role owns the relationship with our valued Independent Contractors and is instrumental in the successful coordination of the timely and accurate delivery of goods. The key responsibilities of this function are to provide exceptional support to our drivers, be quick to respond to questions and troubleshooting concerns and to pro-actively monitor the movement of freight to ensure customer satisfaction.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the coordination, scheduling, dispatching and planning of customer freight shipments
• Act as the main point of contact for all driver facing communication via phone, text, and E-mail
• Monitor shipments throughout transit in order to effectively meet delivery schedules
• Respond to customers efficiently, thoroughly, and professionally
• Manage customer and driver expectations to align with operational capabilities
• Work cooperatively with customer service/sales to provide solutions for customers’ needs and resolve issues
• Dispatching and scheduling drivers for pick-up and deliveries,
• Maintaining communication with drivers and customers to ensure timely delivery & pickup of freight.
• Schedule a fleet of company vehicles and common carriers
• Coordinate paperwork and documentation, data entry of inbound and outbound loads using industry specific software.
• Guide truck drivers to destination pick up locations, via computer and GPS location.
• Manage customer service satisfaction by providing updated eta and location of drivers.
• Obtain and maintain freight rates from trucking companies/haulers
• Maintain/manage vehicle licenses and permits
• Handle and resolve problems as they arise with customers and drivers
• Provide real time GPS tracking of traffic and all drivers on the road as dispatcher for the company.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Self-motivated problem-solver with strong desire to meet customer needs
• Familiar with Excel & Microsoft Word
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Desire for a long-term career with an industry leading company
• Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image; this includes but is not limited to; organized and detailed work habits; effective interpersonal skills both written and oral; ability to work independently as well as within a team environment; discretion and handling of sensitive topics as they relate to individuals, groups or towns etc.
