Logistics-Freight Manager

Job Summary

The Freight Manager is responsible for overseeing all freight and logistics operations, with a strong focus on international shipping and customs clearance within Kuwait. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods across borders while maintaining high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end international shipping operations (air, sea, and land freight)
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and logistics partners
• Ensure compliance with Kuwait customs regulations and import/export laws
• Handle customs clearance processes, documentation, and duty calculations
• Liaise with customs brokers and government authorities to resolve clearance issues
• Optimize freight costs, transit times, and service levels
• Monitor shipment tracking and ensure timely delivery
• Maintain accurate shipping and customs documentation (invoices, packing lists, HS codes, etc.)
• Develop and implement freight strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts and rates
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and company policies
• Lead and mentor the freight/logistics team

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics/Freight
• 7+ years of experience in freight management or logistics.
• Strong experience in international shipping (air & sea freight preferred)
• In-depth knowledge of Kuwait customs procedures and regulations
• Experience handling import/export documentation and clearance processes
• Familiarity with HS codes, duties, and tariff classifications

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of international trade and logistics operations
• Excellent understanding of Kuwait customs systems and processes
• Negotiation and vendor management skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• High attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills (English required; Arabic is a plus)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with GCC freight regulations
• Prior experience managing a team
