Responsibilities
- Prepare shipments: Accurately pack, label, and document outgoing orders, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.
- Manage incoming goods: Unload deliveries, sort products, and stock them in the warehouse, performing inventory checks and maintaining a clean workspace.
- Handle documentation: Process shipping documents such as bills of lading, invoices, and packing lists to maintain accurate records and facilitate smooth movement.
- Coordinate logistics: Schedule shipments, negotiate with carriers, and track shipments using software to ensure they arrive on time and resolve any issues that arise.
- Inspect products: Verify the quality of goods before shipping to check for damage and ensure they meet specifications.
- Communicate: Liaise with other departments like sales and customer service, as well as with vendors and drivers.
Qualifications and skills
- Experience: Proven work experience in logistics, warehousing, or a similar field is often required.
- Technical skills: Proficiency with computer systems, such as Microsoft Excel and specialized shipping software (e.g., Shiprocket, UPS WorldShip), is essential.
- Soft skills: Strong organizational skills, excellent communication and customer service abilities, and a keen eye for detail are crucial for accuracy and efficiency.
- Physical ability: The ability to lift heavy objects and operate machinery like forklifts and pallet jacks may be necessary.
- Educational background: A high school diploma is typically the minimum requirement, though some roles may prefer a college degree in a related field.
