Role Overview
The Logistics & Operations Head / Manager will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end logistics operations including domestic distribution and international export–import processes. The role involves managing documentation, compliance, freight coordination, warehouse operations, vendor management, and ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of goods.
Key Responsibilities:-
1. Export & Import Documentation
- Prepare and verify import/export documentation including:
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Bill of Lading / Airway Bill
- Shipping Bill
- Certificate of Origin
- LC documentation
- Customs declarations
- Coordinate with CHA (Customs House Agents), freight forwarders, shipping lines, and airlines.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and DGFT norms.
- Manage duty drawback, EPCG, advance license, and other export incentives.
- Track shipment status and resolve documentation discrepancies.
2. Domestic Logistics Management
- Oversee transportation planning for domestic shipments.
- Coordinate with transporters for timely dispatch and delivery.
- Manage warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, and stock audits.
- Optimize freight costs and transit times.
- Handle reverse logistics and claims management.
3. International Logistics Operations
- Manage international freight (Air & Sea).
- Negotiate freight contracts with shipping lines and freight forwarders.
- Monitor Incoterms compliance (FOB, CIF, EXW, DDP, etc.).
- Handle import clearance and ensure proper duty payments.
- Maintain strong relationships with global logistics partners.
4. Operations & Team Management
- Lead and supervise logistics and documentation team.
- Develop SOPs for logistics and documentation processes.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce cost.
- Monitor KPIs: On-time delivery, freight cost, clearance time, documentation accuracy.
- Coordinate with sales, finance, procurement, and production teams.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with customs, GST, and international trade regulations.
- Maintain proper record-keeping for audits.
- Handle insurance claims for damaged/lost goods.
- Mitigate supply chain risks and delays.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or Business Administration.
- 3–8 years of experience in logistics & operations (including export-import documentation).
- Strong knowledge of customs procedures and international shipping regulations.
- Experience handling domestic and international shipments.
