Logistics Specialist

About the Role:

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of logistics functions, ensuring the timely execution of job activities and maintaining accurate warehouse inventory. This role requires a strong understanding of logistics processes, attention to detail in inventory management, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure smooth and efficient workflow. The Logistics Specialist supports the four primary logistics functions of Receiving, Inventory Control, Non-Sterile Packaging, and Shipping. Individuals in this role are expected to develop proficiency across all logistics functions while demonstrating the ability to take ownership and lead operations within at least one primary area. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, adherence to established procedures, and a commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree/certification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or relative experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven knowledge of logistics management, material control, and warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with international shipping regulations and customs compliance.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Strong organizational skills with an understanding of lean principles and their impact on operational efficiency.
  • Strong customer focus, both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment while demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn multiple operational functions and support cross-functional workflows.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify discrepancies or process issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or supply chain roles within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management such as APICS CPIM or CSCP.
  • Proficiency with Epicor (ERP and WMS), UPS World Ship, and TrackWise (QMS) software.
  • Experience in reverse logistics and sustainability initiatives.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and performance metric reporting.
  • Experience working within ISO-regulated or medical device manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with inventory control processes including cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or 5S principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all logistics activities including shipping, receiving, and transportation to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
  • Execute logistics job functions proficiently as outlined by product job travelers.
  • Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
  • Support and execute the four primary logistics functions: Receiving, Inventory Control, Non-Sterile Packaging, and Shipping.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead operational execution in one primary logistics area while assisting in the other logistics functions as needed.
  • Apply logistics best practices including receiving, material flow, picking, staging, packaging, and outbound shipment processes.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products to customers while meeting delivery deadlines and operational priorities.
  • Oversee inventory control and material handling processes to maintain accurate stock levels and minimize waste or loss.
  • Maintain physical and ERP inventory accuracy and integrity through cycle counting, discrepancy investigation, and reconciliation.
  • Utilize Epicor ERP to perform basic and intermediate transactions supporting logistics activities.
  • Execute reverse logistics Return Material Authorizations (RMA) to efficiently process returns, repairs, and potential recycling of materials.
  • Collaborate with international shipping partners to ensure compliance with customs regulations and optimize cross-border transportation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments including Quality, Manufacturing, Planning, and Sales to support efficient operations.
  • Work closely with supply chain and quality control teams to streamline operations, improve workflow, and reduce operational costs.
  • Meet or exceed daily operational output goals and performance metrics.
  • Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support warehouse organization and material flow to promote efficiency and adherence to 5S principles.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting for all logistics activities in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with cross-training efforts to develop proficiency across all logistics functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.

The required skills in logistics management, material control, and supply chain management are applied daily to coordinate the flow of goods and materials efficiently, ensuring production schedules are met without delays. Expertise in international shipping and customs compliance is essential for managing cross-border logistics and avoiding regulatory issues. Warehouse management skills are used to optimize storage, inventory accuracy, and order fulfillment processes. Reverse logistics knowledge supports the handling of returns, contributing to cost savings and environmental responsibility. Medical logistics, when applicable, ensures adherence to strict protocols and security standards, enhancing operational reliability and compliance.


Monday–Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
Working hours include two 15-minute paid breaks and one 30-minute unpaid break.
