Long Term Substitute Teacher, 2nd Grade Teacher

Christian Heritage School is a thriving academically and spiritually rigorous Christian day school located in Southern Connecticut. With almost 400 students, it is one of the largest K-12 Christian schools in the Northeast and draws students from numerous towns across the state. It has a diverse student body that comes together to grow in knowledge, faith, and character within a loving, grace-filled environment.

We are seeking a Long-Term Substitute 2nd Grade Teacher
who will provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment during a faculty FMLA leave. The substitute will follow the regular teacher’s lesson plans while fostering a positive atmosphere where students can grow academically and spiritually, integrating Biblical truth with a stimulating and challenging learning experience.

Christians in accordance with the school mission statement.

Long Term Substitute Teacher Duties
  • Following lesson plans/curriculum
  • Potential need for lesson plan creation, would work with other teachers for support
  • Grading/grade entering
  • A clear understanding and acceptance of basic Biblical principles
  • An understanding of and adherence to the school’s Statement of Faith
  • A love for and understanding of young children
  • Must provide current background check

Education and Experience

  • College degree, preferably with a focus on elementary education
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience preferred
  • Confident interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experienced with using technology in a classroom environment; Google programs
  • Remarkable professionalism and solid work ethic
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time-management skills

Assignment Period

  • Anticipated start: March 10, 2025
  • Anticipated end: June 11, 2025 (last day of school)

Pay Rate for Assignment

  • Long-term teaching assignment: $150/full day
