Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to join our dynamic team. Duties
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Conduct bank reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.
- Perform journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation tasks using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft.
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial analysis to support organizational decision-making.
- Support internal controls by adhering to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards and assisting with audits.
- Reconcile balance sheets, cash flows, and other financial reports; interpret financial data for management review.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all financial transactions including debits & credits, journal entries, and account analyses.
- Collaborate with team members on payroll processing, regulatory reporting, and tax-related activities including Wills, Trusts & Estate Law considerations when applicable.
- Mentor junior staff or interns in accounting procedures and best practices to foster professional growth within the team.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with a focus on technical accounting standards such as GAAP.
- Strong proficiency in financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; familiarity with Quicken is a plus.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, governmental accounting practices, securities law compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Experience with SOX compliance procedures and internal control assessments preferred.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts such as accrual accounting, cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and account reconciliation.
- Ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately and communicate findings clearly.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report writing; experience with financial report interpretation is essential.
- Familiarity with auditing processes and general ledger management; experience in account analysis is highly valued.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
