Job Overview:
The LOTO Wind Fleet Engineer is responsible for the engineering services and field support of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety protocols within the wind fleet. This role combines engineering expertise with a strong focus on safety management to ensure the protection of personnel during maintenance and repair operations of wind turbine systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Protocol Development:
Partner with design engineering on development and implementation of comprehensive LOTO procedures for wind turbine operations.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and industry standards.
Engineering Support:
Provide technical support for services technicians during maintenance and repair operations of wind turbine systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and improve system reliability and safety.
Risk Assessment:
Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards related to wind turbine maintenance.
Recommend and close loop on engineering controls and safety measures to mitigate identified risks.
Training and Guidance:
Serve as a subject matter expert on safety protocols within the engineering team.
Documentation and Reporting:
Ensure accurate documentation of latest LOTO procedures
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to wind energy and safety management.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices and engineering solutions.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering within the energy sector, with a focus on safety protocols.
Experience in developing LOTO procedures and safety management systems is preferred.
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency in engineering software and tools.
Certifications:
Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA) preferred.
Working Conditions:
Primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork at wind farm sites.
Estimated travel ~10%
