The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) serves as one of the largest revenue sources for the State of Maryland, supporting important state programs and services including education, public health and safety, human resources and the environment. In addition to generating revenue from the sale of lottery products, the MLGCA is also responsible for the oversight of the state’s casino gaming program, providing direction and guidance to its casino partners on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the facilities. The Agency also regulates Sports Wagering, Daily Fantasy Sports and Electronic Bingo, as well as Instant Ticket Lottery Machines, which are located at almost 90 Veteran’s posts. The Sales Training Manager position provides guidance and support across all Lottery sales regions to develop a training curriculum which may include, but is not limited to: improving sales and customer service skills; more effective time and territory management; merchandising concepts; sales force automation (Gem Intelligence & Gem Office); and other management objectives.
- Develops sales training curriculum to meet the various needs of the Sales Department.
- Researches appropriate training topics ranging from soft skills (i.e. customer service, time management, sales presentations) to Lottery-specific technical skills (i.e. territory management, instant ticket inventory management, merchandising concepts and sales force automation (Gem Intelligence & Office).
- Conducts both group and individual training sessions as required.
- Identifies remedial training topics for inclusion in monthly Sales Department staff meetings.
- Produces material for Monthly Retailer Preview Video sent to MD Lottery retailers.
- Includes slide development, video production and dissemination to retailer base.
- Manages Monthly MLGCA Sales meeting.
- Consults with MLGCA Departments relevant to the Monthly Sales Meeting to obtain information to be presented. Consolidates information into a presentation, manages and edits content.
- Assists with production for both virtual and in person meetings.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Five years of administrative staff or professional work.

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. Experience in directly creating a training program for sales staff.
2. Experience with multi-tasking projects that have similar deadlines.
3. Experience using different forms of media to train staff.
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
