Terrific Math Specialist position with an independent school in the Greater Washington, D.C area. The position will serve as a subject matter expert for lower school math and be an instructional coach to students. The Specialist will ensure that students in grades 3 through 6 receive tailored math experiences that range from support with math foundations to high-level enrichment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide math remediation and enrichment to students in grades 3-6
- Work with teachers to provide support on math subject and demonstrations
- Support students through small intervention groups and tutoring coordination
- Collaborate with lower school and math leadership to support strategies that benefit students and ensure alignment of math across all grades
- Manage procurement of materials related to math curriculum
- Lead the design and coordination of summer math camp
Qualifications:
- Approximately 3+ years of relevant teaching or math specialist experience
- Bachelor's degree required, more advanced degree preferred
- Experience with an independent school strongly preferred
- Ability to teach complicated concepts to children
- Deep understanding and demonstrated experience of math remediation and enrichment strategies
- Manage moving parts and logistics
