Division: Within the Nursing Department at ELMHS Located in Jackson, LA

The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long term psychiatric are in coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana

ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail oriented individual to come and join the team in the Nursing Department as a LPN!

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state plus one year of experience as a licensed practical nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

In this role, you will:

  • Transcribes doctor's orders accurately and timely
  • Prepares, administers, and documents medications and treatments as ordered.
  • Documents patient's response to medication regime, PRN and stat dose administration. Provides patient teaching according to medications prescribed.
  • Checks and justifies all medications from Pharmacy, and maintains clean, orderly, and well-stocked medication room.
  • Monitors patient status in milieu and assesses patient behaviors.
  • Reports dangerous or inappropriate patient behaviors to RN supervisor.
  • Provides written and verbal reports of ward/unit occurrences to RN and provides information for shift hand-off.
  • Assists Medical Doctor as needed and assures follow up on orders are completed.
  • Directs psychiatric aide staff and/or Correction Guard-Therapeutic in performance of their duties and serves as resource for same.
  • Participates in unit activities and provides educational information for patients.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings, in-service trainings and other educational programs.
  • Participate in education trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility.
  • Maintain a current and unencumbered motor vehicle License

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: WAE (not to exceed 1,245 hours in a 12-month period)

Compensation:

  • This position pays $20.25 per hour
  • This position qualifies for shift differentials, with rates varying based on shift time, day of the week, and holidays.
