Job Purpose:
- The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. The role requires a compassionate and dedicated professional who can effectively support the medical and emotional needs of patients in a behavioral health setting. This position is for Shift 1 and requires a minimum of 6 years of experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor patient health by assessing vital signs and observing for any changes in condition.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and health maintenance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Assist in emergency situations by providing appropriate nursing interventions.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education to stay current with best practices in nursing care.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients by adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
Required Education:
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
- Proven experience in administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Experience in maintaining accurate and detailed patient records.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of nursing care procedures, including patient assessment and care planning.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using healthcare software and electronic medical records systems.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and make critical decisions in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, with a focus on promoting mental health and wellness.
