Summary:

The CPUP Licensed Practical Nurse assists physicians and performs healthcare services to patients in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. Monitors and charts on patients, and perform other tasks assigned, all under the direction of registered nurses and doctors. This position offers both in‑person and remote work opportunities, offering flexibility while ensuring patients receive consistent care. The LPN will work Tuesdays and Thursdays in clinic and work remotely Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

Accountability:

1. Insurance Phone Calls-: Coordinate and communicate with pharmacies to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and on time.:

  • Prior Authorizations
  • Experience with calling insurance companies
  • Cover my Meds
  • Prior authorizations for tests/radiology
  • Knowledge of insurance plans
  • Copay
    • Copay Assistance
    • Premiums
    • Deductibles
    • Medicare

2. Administers prescribed vaccines as needed.

3. Obtains and documents results, taking appropriate action with unexpected results.

4. Gathers information from patients and directs them to the RN or provider when necessary.

5. Prepares and completes FMLA.

6. Working with benign hematology, sickle cell and thalassemia patients under the guidance of physicians and multidisciplinary team.

Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Credentials:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (Required)
  • BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Practice Nursing School Equivalent Experience And 1+ years Outpatient experience (Preferred)
