TheOrthopedic Trauma clinic is looking for a passionate and personableMedical Assistant to work at our cliniclocated on our Boise Regional Medical Center campus.

Position Summary& Highlights:
  • As an MA in the Orthopedics Trauma clinic, you will be supporting our Orthopedic Trauma surgeons, PAs, and APPs and work with other MAs and RNs.
  • ***Please make sure you meet our minimum requirements before applying (see below). CNA and EMT certifications will not count towards an MA certification.***
  • Orthopedic trauma is a subspecialty within orthopedics that focuses on treating patients after trauma to the body which results in injury to the bones, tendons, muscles, or ligaments. Orthopedic Trauma surgeons are often called fracture specialists. While general orthopedic surgeons can manage a wide variety of fractures, there are patients that benefit from treatment by an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in traumatic injuries.
  • Patients who experience trauma involving multiple broken bones, compound fractures (bone comes through the skin), fractures that were previously treated but have become infected or mal-aligned or fractures that never heal can benefit most from this type of specialized care.
  • Our surgeons specialize in this unique area of orthopedics, work closely with our other specialists in foot and ankle, hand, spine, sports, or joint reconstruction, and sometimes will co-manage patients’ care with these other surgeons. They often work closely with our Saint Alphonsus Trauma team, which includes emergency medicine physicians and general surgery trauma specialists.
What You Will Do:
  • In addition to the typical MA duties, such as rooming, vitals, and medication review, you will also assist with surgery scheduling, prior authorizations, MRI authorizations, suture removals, and potentially casting and cast removal.
  • An ideal candidate would have an interest in sports medicine and orthopedics, is a quick learner, has an easy going personality, and is a flexible team player willing to jump in on whatever is needed to be done.
Work Schedule:
This position will work Monday – Friday, typically 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Location:
6165 W. Emerald St. Boise, near the Regional Medical Center campus (I-184 and Curtis Road).

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent requiredat hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a100-hour MA externship or6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hourseven with MA certification.
  • Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience ORCurrent MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is requiredat hire.
  • *EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification. Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
