To apply, complete the online application and attach a current CV/resume and cover letter. The cover letter should address your interest in and/or experience teaching, your teaching philosophy, and your knowledge/experience in composition, rhetoric, and writing studies. It can also address but is not limited to, your scholarly goals and interests.
As part of the interview, you will be expected to give a 10 – minute teaching demonstration. Please address your teaching demonstration as if the hiring committee are students. You may include some explanation for contextualizing your lesson. Be prepared to answer questions regarding the process you utilized and the pedagogical choices you made in designing the lesson. The topic of this mini-lesson must be related to composition, rhetoric, and writing studies. You can select from this list of topics, but are encouraged to craft a lesson on an original topic:
- Crafting a Thesis
- Summarizing/Synthesizing Sources
- Identifying and Evaluating Credible Sources
- Using Library Databases
- Organizing an Essay
