Scope: Maintains and preserves the USS Lexington Museum on the Bay, a 1000 foot retired Navy Aircraft Carrier and all associated mechanic knowledge including but not limited to the ship itself. Use of various chemicals, knowledge of tools and machine operation usage. Acts independently or in a semi-supervised status/environment. This position also provides support of maintenance and trouble shoot equipment to ensure proper function.
Responsibilities:
Knowledge Required: General machine mechanical knowledge and at least one year of experience with diesel engine mechanics.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the environment is moderate, and may be exposed to chemical agents, plumbing supplies and fumes.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is continuously required to sit; use continuous hand, arm and finger manipulation while performing the daily job function; continuously walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and standing/walking on steel railways requiring balance. Environment requires climbing steep stairwells, so comfortable clothing and shoes with non-skid soles are recommended. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25-50 pounds. The vision requirements include: clear concise, close/distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
