Job Title: Machine Operator – Boring Machine (Joinery & Fit-Out Manufacturing)

Job Overview
The Machine Operator – Boring Machine is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining boring/drilling machines used in joinery and fit-out manufacturing. The role ensures accurate drilling, doweling, and hardware preparation in wood and wood-based products in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Operation
- Operate boring machines (single-head, multi-head, line boring, CNC boring) for joinery and furniture components.
- Set up machines according to shop drawings, cutting lists, and production schedules.
- Perform drilling operations for dowels, hinges, drawer systems, connectors, shelf supports, and hardware fittings.
- Adjust machine parameters such as depth, spacing, alignment, speed, and feed to achieve required accuracy.
- Ensure correct positioning and clamping of workpieces to avoid damage or misalignment.
2. Quality & Accuracy
- Produce components with precise hole locations, depths, and spacing as per approved drawings and samples.
- Conduct self-inspection using measuring tools (tape, calipers, gauges, templates).
- Identify defects such as misaligned holes, tear-out, or dimensional inaccuracies and take corrective action.
- Coordinate with the Foreman-Machine Section for inspections and approvals when required.
- Ensure consistent quality across batch production.
3. Material Handling
- Handle materials such as MDF, plywood, solid timber, laminated boards, veneered panels, and composite materials safely.
- Check materials for defects, correct thickness, and compatibility before machining.
- Ensure proper identification and segregation of finished and unfinished components.
4. Machine Setup & Maintenance
- Perform routine machine setup, calibration, and adjustments.
- Carry out daily maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of drill bits and machine components.
- Replace or report worn, damaged, or blunt drill bits and tooling.
- Report machine malfunctions or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor or maintenance team.
- Maintain machine logs and basic production records as required.
5. Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to machine operation.
- Use PPE such as safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, and dust masks as required.
- Ensure machine guards, emergency stops, and safety devices are functional at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and improve efficiency.
- Comply with environmental and waste disposal procedures.
6. Productivity & Teamwork
- Complete assigned tasks within production timelines while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate with carpenters, assemblers, CNC operators, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
- Assist in reducing material wastage and improving production efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience
Education / Training
- Technical certificate or vocational training in woodworking machinery, carpentry, or joinery preferred.
- Machine operation safety training is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience operating boring or drilling machines in a joinery or furniture factory.
- Experience with CNC or automated boring machines is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of joinery drawings and drilling requirements.
- Ability to set up and adjust boring machines accurately.
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and under supervision.
- Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and tooling.
Working Conditions
- Factory-based role with exposure to machinery, wood dust, and noise.
- Standing for extended periods and handling of heavy panels.
- Overtime may be required to meet production deadlines.

Pay: QAR1,800.00 - QAR2,500.00 per month
