Machine Tool Maintenance Team Leader

What you will tackle

• Lead a team of up to four technicians while reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor; assign daily work, develop talent, and keep everyone aligned.
• Maintain, repair, install, and improve machine tools (CNCs, lathes, mills, grinders, welders) with a focus on uptime and quality.
• Make on-the-spot tactical calls when conflicts arise, prioritizing the machines that matter most.
• Partner with production to meet external customer commitments; jump in on changeovers and PMs to reduce downtime.
• Own PM programs for assigned lines—plans, schedules, and parts management—to ensure zero surprises.
• Complete PM checklists on hard copy as work occurs and mirror all details in the SAP work order system.
• Generate follow-up work orders for tasks and parts needed on the next PM cycle.
• Track equipment performance, push productivity improvements, and conduct weekly PM audits.
• Contact vendors for pricing and collaborate with Purchasing to create SAP part numbers for stocked items.
• Participate in SMED events; help the team consistently hit target changeover times.

Must-haves

• 4+ years as an industrial maintenance technician in manufacturing.
• Experience with CNC machines, lathes, grinders, mills, and laser welders.
