CNC Setup Operator

ROLE:

This position is responsible for the overall execution of the quality plan in the machine shop. The role will be accountable for CMM quality checks, non-conforming material management, 6S, SPC, and most importantly, exceeding safety expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining a safe and organized workplace.
  • Must be able to read blueprints to determine conformance to customer specifications.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the use and calibration of both variable and go-no-go gauges.
  • Responsible for the inspection of machined parts and processes, per control plans and Q.A. Dept. procedures.
  • Operate CMM, understand/interpret CMM reports, CMM programming as needed.
  • Must have adequate understanding of statistical methods for control of processes, and be able to implement statistical controls as directed by supervision.
  • Responsible for conformance to tagging procedures.
  • Responsible for record keeping as described by control plans, Q.A. procedures, and supervision.
  • Will keep supervision informed of all out of control conditions, and problems.
  • Recommend to supervision that machined parts are not acceptable and problem should be corrected or production of that particular part should be stopped.
  • Ability to troubleshoot & diagnose dimensional issues, assist operations in recovery.
  • Responsible for pulling machined parts for quality checks when required by Control Plan or Process Sheet.
  • Responsible for performing a dock audit when required by a quality alert, notifying supervision of results of audit, and reporting audit results per Q.A. procedures.
  • Responsible for counting, analysis of, and reporting of all scrap per Q.A. procedures.
  • Check new products prior to initial submission for customer approval for dimensional accuracy.
  • Ability to operate CNC equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for housekeeping as directed by supervision.
  • Material movement utilizing electric pallet jack and forklift as needed.
  • Perform cleaning of machines both internal and external.
  • Ability to participate in root cause analysis of safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining Quality processes as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required, associate’s degree preferred
  • Experience operating a coordinate measurement machine preferred
  • CMM Programming Experience, Zeiss Calypso Programming Experience Preferred
  • Other programming experience/degrees considered.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to use forklifts, cranes, electrical pallet jacks, etc.
  • High level of attention to details.
  • Knowledge of CNC methodology.
  • CMM experience.
  • Comprehension of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. continually and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to walk and or stand constantly throughout a shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stop, climb, etc.
