Maintenance Assistant

Golden Harbor Healthcare, a skilled nursing facility, is looking for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Assistant.

AM shift . Full-time. Monday through Friday. Eight hour shift.

Purpose: To assist in keeping our staff, residents, patients, and visitors safe by maintaining the facility’s integrity.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• One year of experience in maintaining senior housing, healthcare, or a related field is preferred.
• Must have previous maintenance and housekeeping experience in a long-term care or assisted living community or related facility
• Experience working with seniors, being a self-starter, able to take on responsibility, and working with little supervision

Duties and Responsibilities in assisting:

• Maintain OSHA, state, fire code compliance and life safety regulations
• Responsible for all maintenance functions within our skilled nursing community.
• Maintain and cleaned facilities, equipment, and the environment
• Be knowledgeable about stripping, waxing and polishing floors and carpet cleaning.
• Complying with health and safety regulations and removing waste from facilities
• May maintain routine upkeep of outdoor areas, building exteriors, and parking lots
• Other relevant duties as assigned.

Physical Capacities: (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)

• Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
• Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which may include an annual TB screening and physical examination.
• Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to lift over 25 pounds with assistance.
• Frequent pushing and pulling of carts, picking up boxes, etc
• Must be able to work with all machines required to maintain the facility.
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Environmental Conditions: Inside work, normal inside temperatures, some noise, work-related fumes/odors, working with a variety of cleaning tools/machines, possible exposure to bodily fluids, possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
