Position: Mowing Crew Lead (Maintenance Division)
Department: Field Operations
Reports to: Owner / Operations Lead
Supervises: 1+ Maintenance Technicians (as assigned)

Role Summary

The Mowing Crew Lead leads day-to-day route execution and delivers consistent, high-quality mowing services across assigned properties. This role sets the pace for the crew, maintains safety standards, protects equipment, and represents Hartman Landscaping with professionalism and strong client communication.

What Success Looks Like

• Properties look “finished” at every visit (clean edges, clean lines, no clippings left behind).
• The crew stays on schedule while maintaining quality and safety.
• Equipment is operated safely, inspected daily, and returned clean and ready.
• Client notes are completed accurately and issues are communicated early.
• The crew works efficiently with clear direction, coaching, and accountability from the lead.

Core Responsibilities

Crew Leadership and Daily Execution

• Lead the daily route, review scope and client notes before starting work.
• Assign tasks, coordinate workflow, and keep production moving.
• Coach team members on quality, pace, professionalism, and safe practices.
• Step in as needed (trim, edge, mow, cleanup) to meet route goals.

Quality: Mowing, Trimming, Edging, and Cleanup

• Mow at specified height with clean striping/lines and appropriate mowing patterns.
• Make correct bagging and clipping decisions per property requirements.
• Ensure trimming is tight around obstacles and edging is completed along hardscapes.
• Leave all hard surfaces clean, blow off all clippings and debris, and complete a final walk-around before departing each site.

Client Communication and Professionalism

• Serve as on-site point of contact when clients or the public ask questions.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally at all times.
• Identify and report site issues, client concerns, and enhancement opportunities to management.

Safety and Equipment Care

• Enforce PPE use and safe work habits (flying debris, traffic awareness, safe loading and unloading).
• Perform daily equipment and truck/trailer checks, report issues immediately.
• Fuel, clean, and secure tools and trailer at the end of each day.

Reporting and Documentation

• Track time accurately according to company process.
• Document client notes, property exceptions, and any issues that could impact scope, schedule, or quality.

Qualifications

Required

• Valid driver’s license, clean driving habits, and ability to operate truck/trailer if assigned
• 1+ years mowing/maintenance experience with commercial equipment
• Strong reliability, leadership mindset, and attention to detail
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather

Preferred

• Prior crew leadership or training experience
• Strong communication skills with clients and teammates

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
