Job Title: Maintenance Department Leader
Shift: Dayshift with primary hours being Mon-Thurs 6:30am - 5pm
Job Summary:
Perform daily functions and repairs to equipment to ensure they are operational and can produce first quality products. Daily scheduling of reporting associates to ensure that all equipment maintenance needs are meet. As well as complete assigned projects on time and on budget.
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
- Must be capable of running a shift and representing the company in a professional manner
- Identify and solve problems in the area
- Use, read and comprehend a tape measure down to 1/32” is required
- Use, read and comprehend a set of micrometers and dial calipers for measurement tools
- Practical use of hand tools and power tools is required
- Understanding of basic shop math (add/subtract/multiply/divide whole numbers and fractions)
- Understand different product types and quality specifications of each
- Read and understand Engineering drawings
- Be a self-starter and work on your own
- Be flexible with work schedule
- Be willing to take in house or outside training as required to keep up with new equipment and codes
- Must meet all quality and quantity standards of the job
- Distinguish all products by name (sheets and molds)
- Must know and comply with all safety procedures dealing with the equipment
- Good attitude, attendance, and ability to work with others while setting a positive example
- Excellent attendance and safety record
- Knowledgeable in electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls and mechanical disciplines.
Essential Functions:
- Must be familiar with all major equipment in the plant
- Able to schedule and direct Maintenance employees on both shifts by prioritizing maintenance tasks and projects.
- Responsible for doing disciplinary actions and performance reviews
- Capable of operating the Thermoformers and Extruders without assistance
- Perform regular maintenance and PM on all machines
- Must be able to make changes to machine settings if parts being produced are out of tolerance
- Able to perform mold changes
- Ability to start up and shut down lines
- Perform and fill out daily maintenance logs
- Have solid knowledge to be able to safely troubleshoot and repair Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical, Automation Systems, Compressors, Forklift Repair, HVAC and Chillers
- Build jigs and fixtures for equipment as needed
- Complete scheduled projects on time and on budget
- Capable of training back-up operators
- Must work under 6-s guidelines keeping work area clean and orderly
- Assist in all areas of the plant if needed
- Abide by all plant guidelines and safety rules ( Lock out, Tag out )
- Operate all forklifts
- Respond to after hour work calls if needed
- Document all applicable paperwork in accordance to ISO standards
Typical Working Conditions:
- Indoor, manufacturing setting
- Working temperatures throughout the year range on average from mid-90’s to mid-50’s
- The wearing of steel toed shoes, hearing protection and eye protection is required
- Work area includes movement of forklifts and movement of mold and stacker components
- Shift work, days or nights, Monday through Thursday, and some Friday’s and Saturday’s
Equipment Used:
- Thermoformer machine, Extruders, Glue Machines, Saws, Forklifts. All hand and power tools including drill press, welder, band saw, etc.
