Responsibilities
- Installation: Install and maintain electrical wiring, control systems, lighting systems, and fixtures.
- Maintenance & Repair: Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshoot electrical problems, and repair or replace defective electrical equipment and wiring using tools and diagnostic devices.
- Inspection: Perform regular inspections of electrical components such as transformers, circuit breakers, and panels to identify potential issues.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety regulations, including local, state, and federal codes like the National Electrical Code (NEC), and identify and document workplace hazards.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs and records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with other members of the maintenance team and potentially external contractors.
- Emergency Response: May be required to be on-call for emergency repairs or service calls.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various electrical systems and equipment, including motors, generators, and switchboards.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to explain electrical issues and coordinate with others.
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Tools & Equipment: Skill in using standard power tools, hand tools, and specialized electrical testing equipment.
