Job Summary
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all electrical systems and medical equipment power supply in the hospital. Ensures uninterrupted power supply, safety compliance, and smooth functioning of electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities1. Electrical Maintenance
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of electrical systems.
- Maintain HT/LT panels, transformers, DG sets, UPS, stabilizers, and distribution boards.
- Repair and install wiring, power outlets, lights, switches, and circuit breakers.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and ensure quick resolution.
2. Hospital Equipment Support
- Ensure proper electrical connection for medical equipment (CT, X-ray, MRI, monitors, ventilators, etc.).
- Coordinate with biomedical team for equipment-related electrical issues.
- Maintain emergency lighting, OT lights, UPS, and critical care area power backup.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to electrical safety standards and hospital safety protocols.
- Ensure earthing systems, lightning arrestors, and electrical safety audits are up to date.
- Maintain documentation of breakdowns, service reports, and preventive maintenance schedules.
4. Emergency Handling
- Respond immediately to power failures, voltage fluctuations, or electrical breakdowns.
- Support DG changeover operations during power outages.
- Ensure ICU, OT, NICU, and laboratory have uninterrupted power at all times.
5. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with vendors for electrical material and service requirements.
- Maintain inventory of electrical tools, spares, and consumables.
- Prepare daily and monthly maintenance reports.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
Experience:
- 2–5 years experience in electrical maintenance; hospital experience an added advantage.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and load calculations.
- Familiar with DG sets, UPS, and LT/HT panels.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts may be required.
- Must be available for emergency calls.
- Work involves exposure to electrical risks; safety precautions must be followed at all times.
