Job Purpose

To ensure reliable operation, preventive maintenance, and timely repair of all

mechanical, utilities, and equipment systems (including ETP / water systems) in the

R&D / API & Intermediates facility so that R&D operations are not interrupted; ensure

compliance with safety, quality, regulatory, and environmental norms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of

mechanical equipment and electrical machinery used in R&D Labs

  • Monitor, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair utilities and infrastructure

including:

  • Pumps, compressors, chillers.
  • Auxiliaries, piping, valves, motors, agitators, reactors and related mechanical

utilities

  • Regular inspections / checks: vibration, lubrication, alignment, wear & tear, etc.,

to identify potential failure before breakdown.

  • Maintain documentation: maintenance logs, equipment history, spare parts

usage, performance metrics, downtime records.

  • Work with R&D / process / QA teams to coordinate maintenance schedules to

minimize downtime and maintain compliance (GMP / safety / environmental).

  • Vendor management: for specialized, outsourced maintenance, spare parts, and

services.

  • Support Installation / Commissioning / Validation of new equipment / utilities.
  • Adhere to safety, regulatory, environmental norms in all activities; ensure that

machinery / labs / utilities are operated safely.

  • Budgeting / spare parts inventory management for mechanical maintenance.
  • Continuous improvement: suggest reliability improvements, retrofit upgrades,

optimization of utilities to save energy / water / cost.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering
  • Ideally 3.5 years or more of relevant experience (in labs / R&D / pharma /

chemical / process industries) handling mechanical maintenance + utilities /

water / effluent systems.

  • Familiar with safety, environmental, regulatory standards relevant to API /

chemical labs (GMP / ISO etc.)

Skills & Competencies

  • Good troubleshooting skills (mechanical, electrical sometimes instrumentation)
  • Understanding of fluid systems, pumps, motors, piping, valves, etc.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings / P&IDs / equipment manuals.
  • Planning and scheduling preventive maintenance.
  • Good communication and coordination-skills with multiple departments.
  • Analytical mindset; ability to monitor KPIs, identify failure trends.
  • Basic computer skills / familiarity with maintenance management systems

(CMMS) or at least ability to maintain records digitally.

  • Commitment to safety, environmental protection and adherence to regulatory

compliance.

Experience

  • Minimum ~3.5 years in a similar role. Lab / R&D / small‐scale chemical / API /

intermediates preferred.

  • Experience in regulated environments (pharma / biotech) is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
