POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring that Casa Cipriani’s facilities are maintained to the highest standards of luxury, safety, and functionality. This individual is responsible for the daily inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance of hotel, club, and banquet facilities, as well as back-of-house areas and equipment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and dedicated to delivering world-class service within a refined hospitality environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

• Perform daily maintenance and repair tasks on property systems, fixtures, and equipment, ensuring all areas remain fully operational and aesthetically maintained.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and safety systems.
• Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning to ensure facilities are free of dirt, dust, and debris.
• Paint and fill gaps, cracks, or crevices on walls, ceilings, or floors as required.
• Perform basic carpentry and installation work (e.g., shelving, cabinetry, furniture repair).
• Assist licensed tradespeople and vendors with more complex electrical, plumbing, or HVAC repairs.
• Support banquet and club operations with setup and maintenance of lighting, climate control, sound systems, and power needs.
• Perform outdoor maintenance tasks as needed (landscaping, sweeping, shoveling snow, etc.).
• Monitor and report any maintenance issues requiring major repairs or replacement.
• Maintain proper documentation of maintenance work through the property’s work order system (e.g., HotSOS).
• Ensure engineering and maintenance work areas remain organized, safe, and clean.
• Follow all safety, fire, and environmental procedures and report any hazards immediately.
• Undertake special projects or additional duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel or luxury residential maintenance or engineering.
• Working knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic technical issues independently.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a polished and organized work environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to interact professionally with guests, members, and colleagues.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.
• OSHA certified, EPA refrigerant handling certification, or other technical/trade specific licenses (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) preferred.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, and perform maintenance tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders, stoop, squat, and work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to push and pull carts or equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. safely and repeatedly.
• Must be able to work in varying temperature and environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor).
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for detailed repair work.
• Continuous talking, hearing, and visual focus while communicating with team members.
