Maintenance Engineer – Velodrome

Location: Velodrome- Hudairiyat

Job Purpose:

Responsible for performing hands-on maintenance across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general systems in a venue environment. Ensures smooth operation, safety compliance, and high-quality facilities standards. Supports both planned and reactive maintenance, event setup, inspections, and vendor coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general systems.
• Respond to corrective and emergency maintenance requests promptly.
• Conduct regular inspections (interior & exterior) and ensure cleanliness, safety, and asset preservation.
• Coordinate with facility management providers (cleaning, landscaping, pest control, waste management).
• Operate and maintain building systems (BMS) and track utility usage.
• Follow planned preventive maintenance schedules and ensure completion on time.
• Support event setup and breakdown alongside venue teams.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, stock usage, and repairs.
• Monitor and manage FM stock, reporting consumable usage.
• Ensure full compliance with HSE, safety standards, certifications (Civil Defense, Istidafa).
• Engage with clients and end-users to resolve maintenance issues with excellent service.
• Train and mentor other team members; provide input on skill development.
• Identify energy and resource efficiency opportunities and implement improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical (essential).
• Membership or certification from IWFM/BIFM preferred.
• 5+ years of maintenance experience, with 3+ years in the UAE .
• 3+ years experience in sports/event venues, arenas, or similar facilities .
• Experience in managing handyman or maintenance teams , snagging, and defect management during handovers.

Skills & Competencies

• Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general maintenance expertise.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended shifts.
• Strong written and spoken English (Arabic desirable).
• Strong analysis, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a target-driven environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability in tasks.
• UAE Driving License required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experienced engineer (electrical/mechanical) with hands-on maintenance expertise.
• Has managed a team of handymen or technicians.
• Proven track record working in event venues, sports arenas, or similar facilities .
• Comfortable coordinating with vendors, leading inspections, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
