The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for fitting, assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components and machinery according to specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Measure, mark, and cut metal parts using hand and power tools
- Assemble, fit, and align mechanical parts and assemblies
- Perform drilling, tapping, grinding, filing, and machining work
- Install and maintain machines, tools, and equipment
- Identify faults and carry out repairs and replacements
- Ensure proper lubrication and adjustment of machinery
- Follow workplace safety rules and procedures
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work area
- Assist in preventive and breakdown maintenance
Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of fitting tools and measuring instruments
- Ability to use vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
- Basic welding and fabrication knowledge (preferred)
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and in a team
Qualifications
- ITI (Fitter) / Diploma in Mech. Engg.
- 1–5 years of experience in industrial/mechanical fitting (preferred)
