A Maintenance Fitter is responsible for the installation, Preventive maintenance, repair, and inspection of mechanical equipment and machineries, the key responsibilities typically include:
1. Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely.
- Inspect mechanical systems, equipment, and components for signs of wear, damage, or potential failure.
- Lubricate moving parts and replace worn-out components, such as bearings, gears, and belts.
2. Installation and Setup
- Install new machinery and equipment according to technical specifications and layouts.
- Assemble mechanical components and ensure proper alignment and calibration.
3. Troubleshooting and Repairs
- Diagnose and identify faults in mechanical systems using tools like gauges, meters, and diagnostic devices.
- Repair or replace defective parts, including shafts, pistons, and hydraulic systems.
- Test repaired equipment to verify functionality and safety.
4. Fabrication and Welding
- Fabricate or modify machine parts using tools such as lathes, grinders, or welding equipment.
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to create or repair components.
5. Safety and Compliance
- Follow workplace safety standards and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.
- Keep records of maintenance activities and report any safety hazards or incidents.
6. Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and production staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide technical advice and training to junior staff if needed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and document maintenance activities.
7. Emergency Response
- Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns to minimize downtime and production loss.
- Be available for on-call work, particularly in industries requiring continuous operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- ITI or Diploma from any renowned institution.
- Knowledge in PLC is an extra advantage
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
