SUMMARY: The Maintenance Journeyman’s role is providing diagnosis, maintenance and repair to the company’s machines, equipment and various maintenance related needs, promoting teamwork through behavior, acting in accordance with Altek’s Policies and adhering to the goals and expectations defined by management. Pay is DOE.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on CNC machines, injection molding equipment, and plant systems

Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues on production equipment
-
Diagnose faults in CNC lathes, mills, and molding machines to minimize downtime
-
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
-
Support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and line stoppages
-
Install, align, and calibrate new or existing equipment
-
Maintain and repair hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, and cylinders
-
Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and basic automation components
-
Perform electrical work including wiring, motor controls, VFDs, and control panels
-
Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work orders
-
Ensure compliance with safety standards, LOTO procedures, and company policies
-
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for equipment reliability
-
Work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools
-
Support facility systems such as HVAC, compressors, and building infrastructure
-
Participate in emergency repairs and off-shift/on-call support as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED
-
AA degree, Apprenticeship/Journeyman Certification preferred
-
Minimum of 5 years in repair and maintenance of manufacturing machines, welding, mechanical and/or electrical preferred
-
Intermediate/Advance knowledge in electronics, electricity, microprocessors, mechanical repair, welding, HVAC, carpentry, blueprint reading, math, maintenance safety, hand and power tools

Physically able to meet all the requirements of the position

Knowledge and experience with manual machine tools (Bridgeport)

Proficient in Word and Excel programs
