Position Overview
Hazelnut Growers of Oregon (HGO) is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance department, managing all aspects of equipment, facility, and technology maintenance across multiple sites. This position, based at 21260 Butteville Road NE, Aurora, OR 97002, also oversees IT systems supporting plant equipment at additional company locations. The Maintenance Manager is a vital leader, responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations by coordinating, documenting, and troubleshooting maintenance projects involving both mechanical and digital systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and train the maintenance team for operational excellence at all sites, including technology systems and digital equipment interfaces.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and reliability programs for plant machinery, production equipment, and related IT systems.
- Document, track, and coordinate all maintenance projects, ensuring effective communication and follow-through on both physical and technology-related tasks.
- Oversee equipment repairs, upgrades, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, technical, and IT-related issues, including PLCs, sensor networks, and automated systems.
- Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and IT infrastructure interruptions to minimize downtime and restore production operations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inventories, project documentation, and IT system logs.
- Coordinate capital projects and collaborate with plant managers, production leaders, and external vendors, integrating advanced machine technology and automation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and information security standards at all locations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for equipment performance, reliability, efficiency, and technology integration.
- Provide training and support for production staff on equipment operation, IT system usage, and maintenance best practices.
- Manage tools, spare parts inventory, technology assets, and budgeting for department operations.
- Administer software updates, IT troubleshooting, and network maintenance for production and plant systems.
- Liaise with IT professionals regarding hardware, software, and cybersecurity issues impacting plant operations.
- Monitor, assess, and upgrade machine technology including automation systems, data capture devices, and industrial control computers.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $95,000 – $125,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

Reporting Structure
The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the COO and General Manager and collaborates closely with plant and production line managers, site supervisors, IT professionals, and other facility leadership across all company locations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in maintenance management, preferably in food manufacturing or industrial automation.
- Expertise in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and IT systems, including project management for technology upgrades.
- Strong skills in documenting, tracking, and coordinating multi-site maintenance and technology projects.
- Proficiency with maintenance management software, technical manuals, IT troubleshooting, network schematics, and industrial diagrams.
- Experience working with PLCs, SCADA systems, automation software, and related IT infrastructure.
