1. Role Summary
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring minimal unplanned downtime and reliable operation of all mechanical, utility, and electrical systems in the factory.
This role will lead a team of technicians and electricians, handle breakdowns, plan and implement preventive maintenance, manage spare parts, and ensure all key machines (RFC, carbonator, homogenizer, RO, chillers, PHE, boilers, pumps, conveyors, and utilities) run safely and efficiently.
2. Key Responsibilities:
A. Mechanical Maintenance (Core Responsibility)
- Lead mechanical maintenance of pumps, valves, seals, bearings, and gaskets.
- Oversee maintenance and smooth running of RFC machine (rinser, filler, capper).
- Manage mixers, carbonators, blending/mixing tanks and related equipment.
- Ensure proper operation and gasket health of PHE (Plate Heat Exchangers).
- Diagnose and resolve steam-related issues (traps, backpressure, insulation, PRVs).
- Maintain chillers, compressors, glycol circulation systems.
- Carry out breakdown analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper lubrication, alignment, belt tensioning, and conveyor health.
B. Electrical & Instrumentation (Working Knowledge)
- Supervise electricians for panel, VFD, sensor and wiring-related work.
- Understand installation and basic troubleshooting of PT100 sensors and pressure transmitters.
- Ensure proper cabling, grounding and shielding of instrumentation.
- Coordinate with automation/PLC vendors for PLC/HMI-related diagnostics.
- Ensure all electrical installations meet safety and statutory norms.
C. Preventive Maintenance & Documentation
- Prepare and execute weekly and monthly preventive maintenance (PM) plans.
- Maintain checklists, breakdown logs, and perform root-cause analysis (RCA).
- Track and report key maintenance KPIs such as MTBF and MTTR.
- Manage spare parts inventory, including minimum stock levels and reordering.
- Plan and execute annual overhauls of major machinery.
- Prepare and manage shutdown maintenance plans.
D. Team Management & Training
- Lead and manage a team of technicians, fitters, and electricians.
- Conduct regular skill assessments and on-the-job training.
- Ensure strict adherence to SOPs and safety practices.
- Maintain discipline, safe work habits, and accountability within the team.
E. Vendor & Compliance Management
- Coordinate with OEMs and service providers for RFC, PHE, chiller, boiler, compressor, and other key equipment.
- Manage AMCs and external maintenance contracts.
- Ensure compliance with safety norms, audits, and statutory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, and Management for smooth operations.
3. Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical maintenance background (mandatory).
- Hands-on experience with beverage/bottling plant machinery.
- Sound knowledge of utilities: steam, compressed air, RO, refrigeration, and cooling systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation activities.
- Experience with pumps, valves, PHEs, conveyors, carbonators, and packaging lines.
- Basic troubleshooting of PLCs, VFDs, and automation panels.
- Strong analytical and root-cause analysis skills.

4. Experience & Qualification
- 5–7 years of experience in maintenance in an FMCG / Beverage / Food / Bottling plant (mandatory).
- Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Prior experience with RFC/filling lines and/or carbonators is a strong advantage.
- Proven experience managing a maintenance team of 3–10 members.
