Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and mechanical systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. This role applies mechanical knowledge and hands-on technical skills to diagnose equipment issues, perform repairs, and support preventative maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maintain production performance.

The Maintenance Mechanic works closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure equipment is operating safely and effectively while supporting continuous improvement of plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair production equipment and mechanical systems to ensure efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Perform routine and emergency equipment repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Assist in the installation, modification, and improvement of production equipment and related mechanical systems.
  • Maintain and repair plant mechanical infrastructure including piping systems, wastewater systems, drainage systems, compressed air lines, nitrogen systems, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, and work orders to perform maintenance and service tasks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Conduct equipment testing and inspections to ensure machinery is operating within performance standards.
  • Install, start up, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and operational guidelines.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance work.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and production efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety, GMP, and food safety policies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems used in production manufacturing environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic, hydraulic, and piping systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.

Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
