MECHANIC

Description:

Performs varied tasks associated with maintenance and repair of heavy sawmill, logging, road construction and other mobile equipment ranging from pickup trucks through off-highway trucks. Troubleshoots malfunctions, plans repairs and orders necessary parts. Uses standard and specialized manual, hydraulic and pneumatic tools to dismantle, repair and reassemble components on machinery. Performs layout and fabrication of custom parts or components of machinery.

Mechanic duties and responsibilities include:

Perform service and minor repair on mobile equipment, including forklifts, front end loaders and log yard equipment. Some mechanical aptitude necessary for this position. Must be Able to Understand Verbal and Written Instructions. Ability to troubleshoot complicated hydraulic, electronic, and combination systems. Ability to perform duties indoors or outdoors regardless of weather. Ability to plan out tasks and follow sequential order to accomplish repairs. Recognize need for and use mechanical aids in the removal or assembly components such as hoists, blocks, etc. Anticipate potential movement of suspended or supported equipment and use safety blocks appropriately. Ability to prioritize tasks based on equipment needs, time of year and repair costs. Able to weld all positions both stick and wire including hard facing and structural. Able to use air-arc and cutting torch

Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age

Ability to work in a team environment

Must be able to work weekends, or holidays as required

1-2 Years’ experience preferred

Valid Drivers License

Physical ability:

Must be able to stand and work up to 10 hours per shift

Must lift and carry parts and tools from one location to other.

Uses hand truck or dolly or other mechanical for heavy objects but may need to move slightly

Uses other mechanical advantage to manipulate or move heavy components

Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds as needed

Must be able to pass a drug screen and adhere to a no drug policy

Shift hours and days of work:

Days of work and hours vary as needed
